The waitron on the California Bullet Train turns out to be the hitman engaged by parties unknown to take out Stephanie Dobbs during the maiden voyage. When his first attempt, with a poisoned drink, fails due to Chance's keen eye for detail, and eliminates a bystander instead, he gets frustrated. The killer becomes more direct, shooting the bodyguard (who is fortunately wearing a Kevlar vest) and then going hand-to-hand with him. In the end, however, he is not quite a match for our hero, and is pitched from the train, presumably to his death, to judge by the gore in his wake. ("Pilot")
